Did You Know You Are The Only One To Control Your Life?
“We must mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to what others do.”
- Mahatma Gandhi

There is a misquoted idea that makes the rounds regularly, attributed to Mahatma Gandhi, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” He never said that, but he implied it with what he actually said, which is the quote above. I firmly believe that every change has to start within each of us. If you've read my book, I take the time to more eloquently discuss the most important idea that is life changing to everyone who has the courage to adopt it into their own lives.

We are the source.

That sounds very simple, and so I want to unpack it here like I do in my book.

There is no emotion we feel that is not our own choice to feel. You must read that line very carefully and fully absorb it to understand exactly what I am saying. I want to also be clear, this is not my own idea. I learned it and pass it along because it is life changing.

What I mean is exactly this; no one on the earth has the ability to make us feel anything at all and no one on the earth has the ability to make us act on our emotions. People can do things that upset us, or have the ability to make us mad IF WE LET THEM, but no person can physically put an emotion into us. It's impossible.

Too many times I hear people say, "That person made me so mad!" and yet that is an impossibility. What that person did was do something that YOU LET YOURSELF get mad about. You have 100% control of your emotions at every single moment. No one outside your body can cause you to display an emotion you don't chose to. It's a simple concept to say, but I don't mean to imply it's a simple concept to understand or acknowledge, because most of us want to live in a mindset of victimhood. We want to be able to blame other people for how we feel or how we act because then we don't have to take responsibility for those feeling or actions.

But the truth is, every action we take is because we make a choice to act that way. Period.

Once we make the difficult leap to admit this truth, our life become ours to manage and it's very freeing! Suddenly we realize that success and failure is completely up to us and we can use that power to become successful, happy, improve relationships, and have a better life. Or we can chose to continue to be miserable, and sad, and blame others, but deep inside we know we have no one to blame but ourselves for being exactly where we are.

So what do you want to do with this new found knowledge? Do you want to make changes and better yourself? If so, then just let me know . Helping people improve their lives is one of my specialties and I love to do it!
